Marmara University Center for Regional Development (MACRED) was established in June 2017 within the framework of TUBITAK 1000 - Support Programme for Increasing the Research and Development Potential of Universities, within the scope of the project (Project no: 115R179) carried out for the preparation of Marmara University 2017-2021 R&D Strategy Document in the field of Economics, by a project team consisting of Prof. Dr. A. Suut Doğruel, Prof. Dr. Sibel Gök, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Tekçe, Assoc. Dr. Selin D. Özdemir Yazgan and Assist. Assoc. Dr. Pınar Deniz under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Fatma Doğruel.
The aim of Marmara University Center for Regional Development (MACRED) is to conduct research and scientific activities on economic growth and regional development.
Other aims of the Center are to develop policies to reduce regional differences; to ensure the cooperation of universities, industry, public and non-governmental organisations and other research institutions; to organise academic and social panels, seminars, conferences and similar meetings with the participation of domestic and foreign experts.
